Our Shared Legacy
Community bands together to provide unprecedented support for the Minutes Matter Emergency Services Campaign
The Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center emergency department is one of the busiest in Los Angeles. Last year, it served a record setting 72,000 patients with conservative estimates exceeding 93,000 per year in the next decade. The existing facility was never meant to accommodate such a high volume of patients or wide range of treatments.
The innovative blueprint for the new emergency department and urgent care center is more than an update, it fundamentally redesigns the way Providence Saint Joseph delivers emergency services. Vastly expanded facilities, state-of-the-art technology and enhanced services will help our clinicians care for more patients, develop advances in treatment and accommodate the complex needs of the rising population.
Current Providence Saint Joseph Foundation board member, former chair and namesake donor, Michael Cusumano, remembers the faith the board placed in our community. “When the board agreed to launch the biggest campaign in the history of our Foundation, we didn’t have a single commitment in hand,” he says. “We had an ambitious goal, a dream really, to raise $78 million to build a completely new and comprehensive emergency services department and urgent care facility. We believed our community would support it and the passion for the project was extraordinary. We all share in this legacy.”
