Enhancing patient experience and outcomes through donor-supported innovations

Stephen Dutka is honored to invest in the health and well-being of the community he grew up in by supporting the hospital where he and his son were born.

The new board chair at Providence Saint Joseph Foundation shares, “Giving back is an opportunity for me to serve others in tangible and meaningful ways. Philanthropy is more important than ever to help maintain excellent health care. When the community comes together to support those needs as they do at Providence Saint Joseph, it makes for a powerful institution.”

In his leadership role, Stephen has a clear vision for what’s needed over the next few years as the Foundation shifts from traditional large capital campaigns to an “ongoing” comprehensive, clinically focused giving model.

“I’m excited about this new model that allows someone who’s charitably inclined to be much more connected,” he explains. “Instead of taking seven years to raise $78 million for a new building, donors can align their giving to immediately support many smaller but important priorities to benefit our local community and our ministry.”

Tina Johann, president and chief philanthropy officer, admires Stephen for his vision and gift for taking boards to the next level, saying, “Stephen is a treasured volunteer leader and partner. He and his wife, Rebecca, have been very generous in supporting many important projects, including the new Jaromír Střížka Emergency Department and Cusumano Family Health Center. We’re all so grateful to have him leading the Foundation board as we move into an exciting new phase.”
