Ora Karp Gordon, M.D., MS, FACMG, regional medical director, and clinical director of genetics and genomics for the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center, was one of eight clinicians across the Providence South Divison to be recognized with the 2023 Philanthropy Physician Champion Award. The award acknowledges select physicians for their commitment to philanthropy and providing outstanding medical care.

Providence ministries nominated physicians from their respective organizations to be honored for their partnership with the foundation. “We are thrilled to recognize Dr. Gordon,” says Tina Johann, president and chief philanthropy officer. “She’s not only a visionary in her field but also an advocate for philanthropy. Her dedication shows just how transformative the bond between a physician and grateful patients can be for the betterment of our community.”

A legacy of early detection and hope
As the regional director of Southern California’s Clinical genetics and genomics program and the medical director of Integrative Medicine at the Disney Family Cancer Center, Dr. Gordon’s mission is clear: to provide early detection, prevention and, most importantly, hope.

“It’s more than just a diagnosis; it’s a family affair. The ripples of cancer can touch multiple generations, causing a myriad of concerns about the present and future,” Dr. Gordon says. “But with genetic testing, we’re taking away the guesswork, providing clarity amidst the chaos and ensuring families can focus on what truly matters: spending time together.”

Being an instrumental physician champion, Dr. Gordon’s commitment goes beyond her medical expertise. She supports the foundation, nurturing relationships with donors and championing the cause of the Disney Family Cancer Center. “Being involved philanthropically with the foundation is a testament to my belief in our mission,” she shares.
