On February 28, 2026, Providence South Division Philanthropy hosted the Physician Champion Awards at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, honoring outstanding physicians from across Providence Foundations in California. The evening recognized their leadership and shared commitment to fostering a culture of philanthropy that strengthens care for patients, caregivers and our communities.

The event celebrated the essential role physicians play in advancing the mission of Providence — not only through clinical excellence, but through advocacy and philanthropic partnership. Ministries from across Los Angeles County, Orange County, the High Desert and Northern California nominated exemplary physicians whose dedication extends beyond their medical practice to support innovation, access and excellence in care.

Throughout the program, each honoree’s story
was highlighted, offering a meaningful look at the individuals whose compassion and leadership help drive lasting impact. Together, these Physician Champions embody the profound impact physicians can have when they lead with heart — expanding access to care, supporting innovation and creating lasting change for generations to come.

Congratulations to our Champion
Roy Mukku, M.D., medical director of the Cardiovascular Institute at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, has been named the 2026 Providence South Division Philanthropy Physician Champion in recognition of his leadership and commitment to advancing cardiovascular care through meaningful community partnership.

As physician lead for the institute, Dr. Mukku understands the powerful connection between philanthropy and patient care. He has presented to the Foundation board of directors, met with donors and prospects, and participated in engagement events to share insight into the institute’s strategic priorities and clinical innovation.

Dr. Mukku also co-chairs the Cardiovascular Institute Leadership Council, bringing together donors, board members and community leaders to elevate awareness and support. Through thoughtful conversations and authentic engagement, he helps illustrate how philanthropic investment expands services, advances technology and improves outcomes for patients in our community. Through his collaboration and advocacy, Dr. Mukku exemplifies the spirit of a Physician Champion.
