Honoring a Passion for Exceptional Care
The Rubinfeld family champions advanced imaging for patients at Providence Saint Joseph
For more than 15 years, Nathan “Nat” Rubinfeld served as a dedicated member of the Providence Saint Joseph Foundation board, bringing thoughtful leadership and a generous spirit to conversations about the future of the medical center. A passionate champion for philanthropy and a grateful patient himself, Nat understood firsthand the profound difference compassionate, world-class care can make in people’s lives.
Alongside his beloved wife, Alma, Nat believed deeply in strengthening the services that care for patients and families across our community. Even while navigating his own health journey, he remained committed to raising awareness about the needs that shape the future of care at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center.
In recent years, Nat and Alma became passionate advocates for replacing the aging PET/CT scanner at the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center — a project that quickly became meaningful to their family.
“Providence Saint Joseph has been an important part of our family’s life for many years,” Alma shares. “Nat and I shared a deep belief in the medical center’s mission and felt privileged to support an institution that plays such a vital role in our community. Even as we navigated Nat’s health challenges, we remained committed — together — to strengthening the services that meant so much to us. Nat’s final passion project, replacing the aging PET/CT scanner at the cancer center, reflected our shared hope of enhancing the experience and outcomes for every patient who walks through those doors.
“Our family is proud to support this effort as a way of honoring Nat’s legacy and continuing the work we care about so deeply.”
The new GE Omni Legend PET/CT scanner will replace the medical center’s 16-year-old system, expanding access to advanced imaging for cancer, cardiovascular and neurological patients. With improved reliability and enhanced image quality, the technology will help physicians diagnose disease earlier and guide more precise treatment.
Through their generosity and vision, the Rubinfeld family is helping ensure that Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center continues to provide the advanced care our community deserves — honoring Nat’s legacy while improving the lives of patients for years to come.
